Internal Rules
Opening hours
- The Library is open to the public every day from Monday to Saturday from 8.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Director orders the closure to the public for 15 days between the 10th and 31st of August for revision, rearrangement and dusting. The opening and closing are normally carried out by the Director or by one of the two employees of the Monastic Community, guaranteeing the maximum security of the premises and of the patrimony kept therein.
- Any interruption or reduction in service to the public will be immediately communicated to the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and to users.
Admission
- Users may access the catalogues or any type of consultation after having filled out the admission card. The minimum age for admission to the Library is sixteen.
- Before entering the consultation room, users must deposit their bags, folders and other objects in the appropriate lockers at the entrance; they must also comply with the rules governing the use of public places, taking care, in particular, not to damage the Institute’s heritage, not to write or make marks on books or documents, and not to disturb study and work activities. If the Library has a reproduction of the material requested for reading, this will be given in place of the original.
- The public is allowed access to the magazine exhibition room and the reading room, where the filing cabinets are also located. Access to the other rooms and repositories is therefore forbidden.
- Material received for reading may, at the user’s request, be kept in storage for no more than two consecutive days.
